Direct Selling

So, now that the excitement of the Golden Globes, Grammys and Oscars are over, blogging focus will switch from movies and music to fashion for a little while. It's fitting as spring is approaching and many of us are already experiencing warm weather or we are in temperate/tropical climates.

During this economic downturn, there's also a lot of talk about direct selling opportunities, either for residual income or as a full time business opportunity. The nice thing about direct selling opportunities is that if you also enjoy wearing various fashions, you can buy them from YOURSELF at a fraction of the cost of retail. So today's posting goes out to all those direct selling opportunities out there, especially those connected to fashion.

Printed shirred waist dress, AVON.

Mary Kay and SMC are among the many other companies for direct selling, although not fashion specific. Contact your representatives today. For those of you for who have considered signing up for one of these direct selling opportunities, but you just don't think it will pay, make sure to educate yourself on direct selling first. If you're reading this and you are already a direct seller, thinking about how to improve business, it's important to study the strategies to do so. There is real money in it if you have time to commit. Just take it seriously, like a real job. Attend the trainings, become an expert, believe in your product.

Stay tuned...

The 81st Annual Academy Awards

Yesterday's 81st Annual Academy Awards show was highly entertaining with host, Hugh Jackman and performances by Queen Latifah, Beyonce Knowles, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens and more.

Some Moments from the 51st Annual Grammy Awards

I loved Justin Timberlake and T.I's duet!
Here's a clip from MTV

Model, Kate Beckinsale introduced Paul McCartney's performance but before doing so, reminded the crowd that a very pregnant M.I.A. got through her performance on the day her baby was supposed to be due! M.I.A. performed Swagga Like Us with Jay-Z and T.I. featuring Kanye West and Lil Wayne.

The collaboration is appropriate because "No one on the corner has a swagga like us" is found in M.I.A.'s own solo music...
M.I.A.'s music is considered controversial by some and enlightening by others (as M.I.A.'s song, Paper Planes is said to draw attention to the negative stereotypes many immigrants face in the United States.) See the video for Paper Planes below and you decide!:

Tyra Banks' Music Video- Shake Your Body

So, how many of us know that talk show host, former supermodel, 2008 Glamour Woman of the Year, actress, and media mogul Tyra Banks recorded a music single? I just learned of this recently, myself. In addition to her many other far reaching successes, Tyra Banks wanted to gain success in the music industy for some time. The song is called "Shake Your Body" and the music video is below. (Tyra has also collaborated with Kobe Bryant on the song, K.O.B.E. in the past.) "Shake Your Body", 2004, quite a catchy tune, was not extraordinarily publicized, but check it out and if you like her music, it is not too late to support!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Hello and welcome to my blog. This blog is brought to you by a true movie buff, music lover and fashion trend watcher (sometimes a participant). The acronym (mfmru) for the url is a bit of a tongue twister but if you remember it, I'll be your bff;-) I hope you visit mfmru.blogspot.com often to see what's new. The video clips to the right of your screen are film/animation, music and style related in that order. There's a small space between each from top to bottom, for your viewing pleasure. Those clips will also be changed periodically.

This blog is going to be a look at a variety of topics, "united" on the same site. I'm delighted to share my words. I also write on hubpages. I'll be adding some links to my other work in the future and you can click hubpages on the icon on the bottom of the page if you'd like to learn more about that site.

I'll be creating posts on this page, which discuss fashion finds from the thrifty to the high end, information about sweepstakes/giveaways (yes, giveaways!), music video/sound clips sometimes with a written review of the music, and film reviews.

While, I'll be writing film reviews myself, I'll also link to 'what the critics are saying' from time to time.

In this blog, you will find mentions of various genres of film including comedy, drama, mystery, action, documentary and more.

Music reviews and video clips on mfmru.blogspot.com will also be of a wide range of genres. I enjoy and would not hesitate to recommend a huge variety of songs (from classical to hip-hop) for the listening ear and a bit of information about the artists. Sometimes, an artist just needs more exposure to an audience that will appreciate him or her and I'll be happy to offer that to you.

Although not part of my web title at the moment, I plan to include photos from visual and graphic artists in the future as well. I hope you find that checking in on this blog from time to time will be an enriching experience for you. I know that writing it will be enriching and enjoyable for me.

So, on some days, my posts will be a page or more long, on some days just a paragraph, and on some days it will be 'hey, check out this giveaway' or 'here is today's fashion find'.

Today, in particular, it's guess what: the fashion find you see above. On the day of this posting, macy's is running a huge 50-70% of sale with 99 cent shipping. The coat that I bought for myself and most wanted to recommend is no longer available (style & co. stretch wool peacoat) but here is another one that seems to be a great buy (depending on what climate you live in, of course). Not adequate for the deep freeze currently occuring in the midwest and not necessary in the tropics:-) If you are interested in that purchase, act fast before they run out!

Thank you for reading. Until my next post to mfmru...
